Tent Permit Services
There are three big authorities we work with to secure the proper permitting and permissions to set up your event (whether DIY or managed by us). We obtain permits for our clients every day so if you're not sure where to start, just contact us, text, or call.
Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA)
The OCFA issues permits in the following cities:
- Aliso Viejo
- Buena Park
- Cypress
- Dana Point
- Irvine
- La Palma
- Laguna Hills
- Laguna Niguel
- Laguna Woods
- Lake Forest
- Los Alamitos
- Mission Viejo
- Placentia
- Rancho Santa Margarita
- San Clemente
- San Juan Capistrano
- Santa Ana
- Seal Beach
- Stanton
- Tustin
- Villa Park
- Westminster
- Yorba Linda
Processing time is 10 business days (rush fees are assessed if submitted late). Offices are closed alternate Fridays. Some events, depending on their size and complexity, require an on-site inspection by one of their agents. Submission requirements typically include a scale, drawn map of the event equipment with measurements, labels, and a legend. They want to see where exits are, if there are any flame sources, electricity being used, et cetera. In addition, they require a summary of the event, a signed checklist assuming liability for the layout, copies of flame certificates for the equipment used, and a satellite image showing the location of the party.
Your City / Planning Desk
Whether your city is listed above or not, City regulations ask for (more or less) the same as the OCFA does. There may be some juggling between the Planning Desk, the Activities / Events person, and the Business License desk so be prepared for multiple fees - but it's all about the same amount of work to secure the proper OK.
OC Parks
If your event is at a local park or public area, chances are really good that it's managed by OC Parks. While they usually aren't as interested as OCFA and the City as to what exactly is happening at your event, they care who is installing it. We are required to produce a special endorsement on our $1m insurance policy that absolves them of any event liability in case of accident.
